Processes Will Die Without a Die – Know How

Dies are crucial for the manufacturing industry. But what are they strike our mind?

For laymen, the simplest example of a die is the one kids play within the kindergarten called the molds of the playdough or clay set. It is a pre-shaped tool that works in conjunction with a press to manipulate the material into the desired size and shape. The press forces the material — plastic, metal, or composites — into the die’s cavity, thus creating a new object in the same size and shape as the die. Dies have clearly specific and critical applications.

It’s a pivotal decision for the manufacturing industry and needs every aspect to look in before actually finalizing a die as the product or the output depends on it. Once a die has been created, it can only be used to produce objects in that size and shape. The custom dies could be a good cost-effective option or high-volume manufacturing applications, best suitable for faster production. Dies are used to create simple to complex shapes, from small fasteners and tool bits to large automotive components and machine parts. They create a variety of products.

Dies or molds?

Once you enter the depth, the difference appears between a die and a mold. Dies consist of a solid product with a pre-made cavity that’s used to stamp the raw material whereas molds are generally hollow cavities in which the raw material is poured.

Processes that need Dies:

There are numerous processes, to enumerate a few:

1. Blanking- Sheets are given different shapes and sizes.

2. Coining – Different designs on each side are being made.

A die making machine thus becomes quintessential for manufacturing. Aay Kay Technologies are a widely acclaimed manufacturer and supplier of die making machines. Their machine is cost-effective and widely appreciated for its performance among clients from all across the country.
